Many people are able to delay their Part B coverage without incuring a penalty due to group coveage. In this case, a Medicare eligible beneficiary has 8 month to sign up for Part B coverage without incuring a Late Enrollment Penalty. If you are over 65 and 3 months, you most likely will need to apply for Medicare Part B during the General Enrollment Period that runs January 1st through March 31st. If you apply during this period you also will most likely incur a LEP (Late Enrollment Penalty) which is 10% for every 12 month period you weren't enrolled when eligible.
